Career Profile: Teresa Ellis

Teresa Ellis, Service and Practice Development Facilitator and Emergency Department Administrator
Location, London North West University Trust Hospital

Why did you become a nurse?

After 21 years working for the NHS as an administrator, I saw  a secondment into nursing  advertised. It coincided with my daughter flying the nest to start her own career in medicine and I wondered if after all these years I could pursue a career I had often been told I would be good at.

How has your career developed since you started nursing?

Quite significantly! I started nursing in 2004,  as a band 5 nurse, gaining a band 6 role and progressing to my current Band 7 post of service and practice development facilitator within the learning and development department.
