Public Health Wales has created two campaigns focused on smoking cessation.
The campaigns, called Don't Be The One and Stoptober, were launched on 8 September. Both campaigns will use mass media coverage to encourage welsh smokers to quit.

The campaigns, called Don't Be The One and Stoptober, were launched on 8 September. Both campaigns will use mass media coverage to encourage welsh smokers to quit.
Stoptober is the welsh follow up to last year's UK-wide campaign, which saw over 160,000 people successfully participate in a 28 day quit attempt starting on 1 October. Some of the features of the campaign include email and text support for participants and events organised by local tobacco leads. It will also recruit 'local heroes;' people who are taking part in the quit attempt who will speak and blog about their experiences.
Don't Be The One is based on a campaign anti-smoking organisation Fresh North East. This campaign will use advertising on social media and television, as well as initiatives in areas with high smoking-prevalence rates. It will also allow families who have been affected by smoking to tell their stories and discourage smoking.
