PHE has released guidance for healthcare workers considering travelling to West Africa to combat the Ebola epidemic. The document contains information on the precautions that humanitarian workers should take, and provides advice on what to do if they suspect they might have contracted the disease. The guidance also covers what a healthcare worker should do before they go, such as registering with PHE and obtaining supplies such as insect repellent, disinfectant and sun cream. The importance of having up-to-date vaccinations and immunisations is also emphasised. Guidance has also been released for co-workers and family members of healthcare workers returning from Ebola-affected areas. This contains information on the symptoms of Ebola, and the correct procedure if a case of Ebola is suspected.
