This article discusses the impact of having asthma on school attendance and educational attainment in the COVID-19 era, including the implications for life chances. It gives some top nursing tips on improving attendance and attainment for children with asthma, to keep children learning throughout a pandemic winter and enabling them to have a better start in life.
There is some evidence that children with asthma can become disadvantaged in the labour market as adults, although the effect is small and varies by severity. The only qualitative study suggested that children with asthma strove to participate fully in every aspect of their daily lives. (Milton et al, 2004).1
