NAFLD and its link with type-2 diabetes: why we should be worried

Diabetes UK1 reports how more people than ever are currently living with diabetes, 4.7 million people in the UK have diabetes, with four million of those people in England. Estimates suggest that by 2035 over 5 million people will be diagnosed with diabetes in England.

Worryingly the number of patients that develop complications is also on the increase. T2DM itself is of course commonly managed in primary care, where associated complications will first be highlighted, some may be difficult to identify and may provide significant challenges for practice nurses and GPs.
