Some commonly prescribed drugs influence sexual activity, according to a survey of 224 people with cardiovascular disease published in the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practioners. The nurse-led investigation reported a 'new finding meriting further study' that 'loop diuretics negatively impacted sexual activity' in cardiac patients.

71% of respondents were men, with a mean age of 66.4 years. Respondents who were sexually active during the previous two months took significantly fewer medications (on average 5.95) than those who were not sexually active (6.71). Each additional medication reduced the likelihood of sexual activity by 10% after allowing for confounders.
