Self-management of diabetes is crucial to a long healthy life

It has been estimated that people living with diabetes see a healthcare professional (HCP) for around 3 hours a year in total, meaning that they self-manage for the other 8757 hours. The NHS has encouraged self-management for many years now, but it is important to consider how people with diabetes and their families and carers can be supported to self-manage effectively.
