The service is being held this year on International Nurses’ Day, the 12th of May, at Westminster Abbey. This date also marks the birth of Florence Nightingale and this service will commemorate her life and celebrate the nursing profession. The service will include the lamp carried by Nightingale during the Crimean War when she visited wounded soldiers in their wards.
