A conference for nurses interested in gastrointestinal conditions will be held on 27 January at the America Conference Centre. The conference will bring together experts in the fields of gastroenterology and stoma care to discuss the ways in which specialist nurses can demonstrate their value to health-care services and patients, in addition to demonstrating specialist skills that are transferable across multiple fields. Some of the topics that will be discussed include:
• An insight into how nurses can help patients prepare their bowels for endoscopy
• A look at ways to support the mental health and psychological wellbeing of patients with chronic gastrointestinal conditions
• Practical approaches to the challenges faced by obese gastrointestinal patients
• Strategies for raising the profile of nursing and demonstrating the value of the vital contribution that nurses make to health care
