The Cavell Trust has issued its annual call for nurses to support colleagues in need, by taking part in the ‘10k Their Way’ campaign. The trust – which supports UK nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants, both working and retired, when they’re suffering personal or financial hardship – challenges nurses to raise £100 by completing a personal 10k challenge in October.
Those getting involved can think up ways to do ‘10k your way’, which could be a 10k run or hike, walking 10,000 steps, cycling 10k a day, or taking on a creative challenge for 10,000 seconds (2hours 46mins) like dancing or Zumba.
‘Our nursing and midwifery professionals have faced a hugely challenging 18 months and Cavell Nurses’ Trust saw a 140% increase in the number of people we helped in the first 12 months after the pandemic hit the UK,’ said John Harrison, fundraising manager at Cavell Nurses’ Trust.
’Now in its fifth year, 10k For Nurses & Midwives is the perfect way for nurses and midwives to achieve something incredible and whilst also helping to raise money which will build a safety net to support those who fall into hardship. Last year, over £27,000 was raised despite the pandemic which was incredible. ‘
Each 10k For Nurses & Midwives fundraiser gets their own fundraising pack and branded bandana. If the £100 fundraising target is reached, a limited edition technical t-shirt will also be posted out.
