Nurses can refer parents who require financial help for the funeral of a child to a new charity.
The Child Funeral Charity (CFC) provides parents with up to £700 to cover the funeral costs of children up to 16 years old. From 1 October, the CFC will take referrals from community nurses, midwives and health visitors who have supported families through bereavement.
'With the help of professionals such as nurses, midwives and health visitors who can make referrals, CFC can step in and provide support for bereaved parents,' said CFC chief executive Roger Gale.
