The Children's Food Campaign is calling on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to take a tougher stance on the food and drink companies it allows to sponsor the Olympics.

The charity's Obesity Games report claims sponsors such as Coca-Cola, McDonald's and Cadbury's have been given an unrivalled platform to promote their unhealthy brands and products. It is calling for the IOC to exclude junk food brands from sponsoring its sporting events.

Malcolm Clark, co-ordinator of the campaign, said: 'At every turn, the sponsorship of the Games seems to be set up to make the healthy choice a harder choice. It's time the IOC took responsibility for the effect of its sponsorship programme and made the necessary changes.'
