On 25 April, 41 people scaled Mount Snowdon in Wales to raise funds for the Cavell Nurses' Trust, which supports nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants, and other healthcare professionals experiencing financial or personal hardship.

The event is expected to raise over £12,000 for the charity. The Cavell Nurses' Trust provides financial support for healthcare workers who are undergoing issues such as illness, domestic abuse, disability, working poverty and older age.

The climb was part of the Cavell Nurses' Trust centenary appeal, which commemorates the execution of nurse Edith Cavell in 1915, during the First World War.

Cavell Nurses' Trust CEO Steve Charlton said: 'In the last year Cavell Nurses' Trust helped over 1,100 people with over 7,100 years combined service to the public. Everyone involved worked incredibly hard to complete the challenge.'

The Cavell Nurses' Trust plans to hold a variety of other fundraising events across the UK. They also plan to hold another fundraising event where participants will travel to Canada to climb Mount Edith Cavell.

The organisation is also hosting a 'Here for Nurses' month, which will run from 12 May until 12 June. The month is intended to raise awareness of some of the challenges that nurses and other healthcare professionals go through, and how the charity supports them.

Mr Charlton added: 'I'd like to thank Premier Pensions Management and the rest of the fundraisers. You can all proudly say you're here for nurses.'
