The revised GMS contract comes into force from 1 April, despite BMA warnings that it could trigger a workforce crisis in parts of England, as GPs quit.
GMS and PMS practices will receive a funding uplift of 1.32 per cent in 2013/14, allowing for a 1 per cent pay rise for staff. A QOF overhaul involves scrapping organisational indicators worth £20,000 per practice; implementing 12 new clinical indicators; removing 137.5 organisational points; and introducing a public health domain;
Cambridge ANP Jenny Aston said: 'It seems the aim of the QOF overhaul is to make targets unachievable so money will be withheld, making the task of providing good care more target driven.'
