Join JWC and Smith & Nephew to celebrate the launch of ALLEVYN Life, Smith & Nephew's latest innovation. The dressing's design is based on the results of extensive ethnographic research showing how living with a chronic wound can impair quality of life.
Professor Jackie Stephen-Haynes, consultant tissue viability nurse will discuss the ethnographic research showing how living with a chronic wound can impair quality of life and demonstrate through case study examples how appropriate wound care treatment can positively impact patient wellbeing.
At this event, you will also hear the remarkable story of Martine Wright who lost both her legs in the 7/7 London bombings. Martine made it her goal to triumph over adversity and achieved this when she represented team GB in sitting volleyball at London 2012.
Central to Martine's journey was the expert wound care that not just ensured her recovery, but also paved the way for her to become a Paralympian. Martine will explain how the close relationship nurses formed with her, where the focus was always on promoting wellbeing, played a vital role in this.
This event will demonstrate the importance of wellbeing in helping people live their lives to the full.
