In July, the social care White Paper, entitled Caring for our future: reforming care and support, stopped short of outlining how much individual patients would have to pay towards care, despite the independent Dilnot Inquiry recommending a cap of £35,000 last year.
However, as Independent Nurse went to press, it was reported that prime minister David Cameron had revived the idea of a 'Dilnot cap', and discussions were in place to add such a provision to the Care and Support Bill, expected in the autumn.
