The Institute of Health Visiting (iHV) has released a series of resources for health visitors to access CPD.
The CPD directory will be launched on 4 February on the iHV website in the Learning Hub section.
The directory will provide a wide range of resources from formal training days to five minute video clips that will support their CPD in a number of different areas.
The directory will also focus on resources for the six high impact areas for early years introduced by the DH in 2014 as areas in which health visitors make a significant contribution to public health outcomes.
The directory offers suggestions of work-based activity that could be undertaken locally to aid development in specific areas. It will also provide a guide to CPD for health visitors entitled 'Lifelong Learning in Health Visiting – Your 3-Step Guide to Personalising Your CPD', as well as downloadable assessment and planning tools and resources to support CPD activity.
Vicky Gilroy and Phillippa Bishop, iHV project managers, said: 'We undertook an online survey to hear from health visitors and also listened at focus group events to understand what was needed and thought to be supportive and useful for CPD. Hence the first part of the directory focuses on the six high impact areas for early years as key areas of health visiting practice. As practitioners ourselves we know the value of having easy access to CPD resources in the workplace, and as educators we are aware of the significance for learners of having options of different types of materials to access according to different learning styles. We anticipate that this directory will be a great time-saving and informative resource for health visitors, practice teachers and professional leads.'
The directory was developed as part of the Making the Most of Health Visiting campaign funded by the DH and commissioned by HEE.
