The NHS Staff Council has agreed changes to the AfC pay framework used by almost one million NHS staff in England. These will come into effect from 1 April 2013.
They include changes to incremental pay progression, which would have to be 'earned', sickness absence paid at basic level during unsocial hours and removal of accelerated pay progression for new entrants to band five.
RCN general secretary Dr Peter Carter said: 'The decision is the most effective way for the RCN and its partner organisations to protect AfC as a national system of pay. However, we expect all employers to stick to the agreement. The RCN will continue to strongly resist any moves to
