Over 90 per cent of nurses believe that encouraging nurses to prescribe could increase the efficiency of primary care, according to a survey by Independent Nurse.
The survey gathered the views of 704 nurses in primary care about prescribing and the results will be featured in the News Focus in the 3 March issue.
While the majority of the respondents were prescribers in primary care settings, around 27 per cent were non-prescribers. Their main barriers to not undertaking the prescribing qualification were not having enough time, not receiving a pay rise to reflect the extra responsibility, and age concerns.
The full results will be published in Monday's issue of Independent Nurse.
