The RCN, QNI and many other nursing and healthcare organisations have paid tribute to the Queen, who died on 8 September aged 96.
‘Today, I mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II RIP. Earlier this year the nation celebrated her Platinum Jubilee with much love and joy, recognising her decades of service,’ said Therese Coffey, the Health Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister.
‘My thoughts and prayers are with His Majesty King Charles III and all the Royal Family.’
‘It is with a huge sense of gratitude and respect that we remember the leadership and wisdom of the Queen in so many areas of national life. The Queen’s Nursing Institute, and Queen’s Nurses, are inextricably linked to the Queen as our Royal Patron,’ said the council and staff of the Queen’s Nursing Institute.
‘Queen’s Nurses have worked in her name, as a great supporter of nursing and healthcare throughout her long reign. They will continue to work in the name of Her Majesty the Queen and each and every one of our Queen’s Nurses is deeply saddened by the death of our beloved Royal Patron.’
‘I would like to express my deepest condolences and great sadness at the loss of Queen Elizabeth II. We have lost a dedicated Queen and Royal Patron. She will be missed by nursing staff across the UK,’ said Chief Executive and General Secretary Pat Cullen.
‘During her reign the Queen visited nursing staff in hospitals and in the community, taking the time to speak to them and to listen to their experiences. She saw nursing evolve from World War Two and the Blitz to the dynamic and modern profession it is today.’
