The Cavell Nurses’ Trust will partner with nursing uniform manufacturer Alexandra to raise money for nurses undergoing financial pressures.
The partnership will launch on 9 February. A series of fundraising events and initiatives will take place across 2017, including supporting the International Nurses’ Day on 12 May. Staff have set a target of £10,000 from the efforts of these sponsored events, and also hope to involve customers in the events.
‘Every pound they raise will be vital in providing much needed support, for example, to a nurse struggling to pay for transport to attend appointments for cancer treatment or a midwife trying to keep a home warm this winter for her family,’ said Jorj Jarvie, Director of Fundraising at the Cavell Nurses’ Trust.
Alexandra, the charity’s partner, has been manufacturing nursing uniforms since 1854. The company’s staff will take part in bake sales and sponsored sporting events, among other initiatives to raise money for the Cavell Nurses’ Trust. ‘We care passionately about helping nurses out of hardship,’ said Martin Lyne, managing director of Alexandra. ‘The staff at Alexandra are all really excited to be raising money for this fantastic cause and having fun while they do it.’
