Two awareness weeks are being held to champion the role of public health nurses and midwives by Public Health England (PHE).
The weeks will largely take place on social media, with particular themes on each day. There will be blogs, podcasts and Twitter chats to engage conversation with school nurses, health visitors, and practice nurses who work in public health. The PHE nursing team will also be going on visits across the country.
Between 31 October and 4 November, the week will be #Health5to19. This week will be dedicated to looking at the work being done to promote children and young people's health:
- Monday - Resilience and Wellbeing
- Tuesday - Keeping Safe and Healthy Life Styles
- Wednesday - Learning and Achievements
- Thursday - Complex and Additional Needs
- Friday - Transition
Some of the blogs that have been published already focus on how school nurses can help tackle teenage pregnancy, improving oral health, and immunisation programmes.
Between 14-16 November, there will be #ProtectAoH. These three days are dedicated to the contribution of nurses to prevention and protecting health.
- Monday - Infection Prevention/Control
- Tuesday - Tuberculosis
- Wednesday - Immunisation
On Tuesday 15 November a Twitter chat will be hosted by @WeNurses discussing what can be done to make a difference at individual, community and population level to protect the health and wellbeing of our population.
