Practice nursing on the ascendance

Last week IN was among the first to meet the RCN's new professional lead for primary and community care. Marina Lupari won an RCN Frontline First Innovation award in 2011 for her work redesigning a community nursing intervention for at-risk older people at a trust in Northern Ireland.

There has been a noticeable lack of steer on primary care at the RCN for some time. Peter Carter, RCN chief executive, has said in these pages that it was proving difficult to find the right person. Having spoken to Ms Lupari on her second day in the role, I would say it might yet prove to have been worth the wait. The RCN has found someone who lives and breathes primary care. However, there is much to do in raising primary care nursing up the public, professional and political agendas. I hope we will see and hear much more from Ms Lupari during her three-year secondment.

I am also thrilled to unveil IN's reworked print design and announce that our long-awaited website update is now live. The print design is an evolution of IN's original look and as such offers a touch of modernity while maintaining IN's quality. The website offers readers an enhanced experience, with better searchability and clearer navigation by clinical area.

Primary care news will be published daily online, so that we can bring you the news you need as it happens, instead of fortnightly. Here in the IN office we are excited about bringing you timely relevant news. Please check out what's on offer and leave a comment online, either on a specific story, or on the website in general.
