The president of the RCN has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Lincoln for her contribution to nursing.
The president of the RCN has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Lincoln for her contribution to nursing.
Andrea Spyropoulos received her doctorate alongside this year's graduates. She said: 'While I'm personally very proud to receive this, I feel it is a great tribute to the work of the RCN and its membership in standing up for nursing and for patient care.'
Nigel Horner, head of the school of health and social care at the University of Lincoln, said: 'We are delighted to be conferring an honorary doctorate on Andrea Spyropoulos to acknowledge her lifetime of commitment and dedication to the profession of nursing within the UK and beyond.'
Andrea Spyropoulos has worked in nursing for 38 years and is currently employed as a clinical strategist in the NHS. She previously held positions as a registered nurse and midwife, and was a senior lecturer in medical law and professional regulation at Liverpool John Moores University.
