As a Community Specialist Facilitator in diabetes with Community Diabetes Education and Support (CODES) my role is to support and enhance the education of primary healthcare professionals (HCPs) caring for those at risk of, or living with, type 2 diabetes. Previously, I worked as a practice nurse with a special interest in diabetes. As I settle into my new role I hope my experience will ensure a holistic approach to type 2 management. My days are incredibly varied and can look very different from one day to the next.

When I get into work in the morning, I generally start by checking my emails – which includes offering support and advice to other HCPs. I then take some time to update myself on the most recent news in the diabetes field. As a team, we collate news, articles and updates into a bi-monthly newsletter and share this with other primary HCPs. Keeping up to date with research and best practice guidance allows me to continue to learn and engage with what’s going on in the field – so that I am in the best position to educate and support my colleagues.
