Pat Cattini is the lead nurse and deputy director of Infection Prevention and Control at the Royal Marsden Hospital, She is also Vice President of the Infection Prevention Society.
Why did you become a nurse?
I kind of fell into it, really. When I was 16 my parents moved up to Manchester from London and it was horrible to be dislocated from all my friends. Nursing gave me an opportunity to go back to London, which is what I really wanted to do, because in the 80s you were able to live in accommodation. That’s primarily what put me on this path but I’ve honestly never looked back because I loved it. I think I always knew I wanted to work in a caring role.
