Trend UK, a working group of diabetes specialist nurses, have created a series of leaflets aimed at improving the training and education for nurses interested in diabetes care. The leaflets and other resources cover a range of topics relating to diabetes, such as blood glucose monitoring, treating those with diabetes and dementia, and an integrated career and competency framework for diabetes nursing. There is also a large section on palliative care patients with diabetes, which addresses aspects of the condition such as clinical care recommendations and possible strategies. Finally, the resources also contain an evaluation of nurse-consultant led intermediate diabetes care services in England. The resources can be found at www.trend-uk.org/resources. As part of Diabetes Awareness week, charity Diabetes UK has created a pack of resources such as leaflets and posters for healthcare professionals to place in their practices to raise awareness about the condition. The charity is also urging people to use social media to highlight the event using #Diabetesandme Diabetes Awareness Week 2015 will take place between 14 and 20 June.
