Disability as a working nurse

I am a nurse working in a busy practice. I enjoy my job but I have a disability that slows me down. It's not obvious to people and I don't like using it as an excuse. I feel that others in my team are getting frustrated by me. A friend told me that disabled people get special protection at work. Is this true and, if so, how would this work for me?
