FGM data collection guidance

The Department of Health has produced guidelines for healthcare professionals on reporting and recording cases of FGM. The guidance refers to the FGM Enhanced Dataset by the Health and Social Care Information Centre, as well as the upcoming professional duty on FGM, due to be published this month. The guidance includes an explanation of the legal duty for healthcare professionals to collect the information. It also describes what organisations must communicate with patients about this work, as well as advice on how to do this. The document also explains additional work underway to support general practices to ensure cases of FGM are reported to the relevant authorities.
