Graham White comments on sexual harassment in the workplace.

I have a great job in a busy practice but one of the older male staff has been behaving awkwardly towards me. He keeps telling me that I am beautiful and that he wishes he was 30 years younger. I find the whole situation difficult and uncomfortable. What, if anything, should I do?

I am sorry you are experiencing this. In very simple terms, the embarrassment and discomfort you are feeling is sexual harassment. It is totally inappropriate and must be deal with quickly before your workplace is turned into a hostile environment. While you may feel the behaviour is simply inappropriate, I believe it is intimidating. Sexual harassment can happen to both men and women and can take many forms but in all cases the sooner action is taken, the quicker the matter can be addressed.
