PHE has published updated guidance on the risk of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) to travellers. While the likelyhood of encountering a case of MERS in a primary care setting remains low, PHE is still urging healthcare workers to be aware of the condition. In particular, patients who have returned from the Middle East in the previous 14 days with symptoms such as respiratory irritation or a fever of over 380C should be reported to PHE as soon as possible.
