The RCN has published a toolkit for school nurses, to develop their practice in supporting the health and wellbeing of children and young people in educational settings. The toolkit covers topics such as the role of a school nurse, safeguarding vulnerable children, and issues that may arise in the course of a school nurse's job. The toolkit also provides information on the proper protocol for a school nurse to follow if they suspect that a child has experienced female genital mutiliation or sexual exploitation. The final section of the toolkit provides advice about professional aspects of the role, such as working time specifications.
