Introduced in 2016 revalidation is now in its third year and over 600,000 nurses and midwives have revalidated with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), there are 698,000 individuals registered with the NMC.2 Nursing Associates, admitted to the register in 2019, are also required to revalidate and this commences in 2022.
With over 600,000 nurses and midwives having undergone revalidation is indeed testament to the NMCs efforts to engage nurses and midwives. The NMC, which in the past has had its critics, is now making palpable efforts as an organisation to engage and respond with registrants, as well as upholding its statutory duty to protect the public by demonstrating its commitment to compassion and professionalism.
