What is revalidation?
Revalidation is a process designed to ensure that nurses and midwives are able to practise safely and effectively.
What are the requirements?
Nurses and midwives must demonstrate that they have: 450 practice hours or 900 if revalidating as both a nurse and midwife; 35 hours CPD including 20 hours participatory learning; reflective discussion; health and character declaration; and professional indemnity arrangements.
How can I revalidate?
Nurses and midwives preparing to revalidate should first set up an account on the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) website. They should also begin preparing a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled the practice hours, CPD, and other requirements mandated by the NMC. This portfolio may be called for verification by the NMC.
