Q: I am setting up independently and I have been advised that I need commercial insurance. What does this mean?

A: If you are working independently, as a self-employed nurse or through a limited company, there are a number of insurances that you need to have in place to protect yourself and your clients.

The first is public liability insurance, which provides cover in case you injure a member of the public or damage property. For example, if you are running a clinic and someone trips over a chair or a sign falls and hits them, they can sue you or your company, so. public liability insurance is essential but is often quite cheap.
